Marywood's Philosophy and Religious Studies Department offers a wide range of studies on聽 beliefs, practices, and values of Christianity and other world religions.
Knowing about religion is an essential part of living responsibly in today鈥檚 diverse and interconnected world. That鈥檚 why 糖心app requires all undergraduates to take a minimum of two courses in Religious Studies.

At Marywood, you have the opportunity to take a wide variety of courses in Religious Studies and to choose from a flexible array of major and minor options that are tailored to fit your interests:
In line with Marywood鈥檚 Catholic roots and IHM sponsorship, our Religious Studies program gives you the opportunity to deepen your understanding of the history and relevance of Christian theology. Courses in this area include 鈥淐hristian Spirituality,鈥 鈥淧olitical and Liberation Theology,鈥 and 鈥淐atholic Social Teaching.鈥
You also have the chance to enter into dialogue with persons of diverse faiths and worldviews by engaging in the comparative study of world religions. Courses in this area include 鈥淲omen and Religion,鈥 鈥淚ntroduction to Eastern Religions,鈥 and 鈥淧eacemaking in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.鈥
Finally, if you are interested in putting your faith into action, you can collaborate with the wonderful staff in Campus Ministry and take advantage of Marywood鈥檚 many service opportunities.

As and methods across disciplines. Marywood Philosophy also provides students with the opportunity to minor in Philosophy or to complete a certificate in Bioethics. Students interested in majoring in Philosophy must meet with the Philosophy Program Director who will advise them on a specific course of study.
