Starting college comes with a lot of questions. Pacer Priorities Day gives you a chance to get answers before the semester starts.

Throughout the day, you’ll connect with faculty, staff, and other incoming students while learning more about your academic program and the resources available to support you during your first year.

Whether you already know your path or are still figuring things out, this day is meant to help you feel more prepared and more comfortable heading into August.

Academic Presentations

Throughout the day you will meet faculty from your program and learn more about what to expect during your first year at Marywood. Some sessions run concurrently so checkout the presentation for your session to get the most out of your day.

What is Pacer Priorities Day (PPD)?

Pacer Priorities Day is an important step in your transition to ÌÇÐÄapp. During this event, you'll connect with faculty, staff, current students, and fellow incoming Pacers while completing important next steps before the start of the semester. You'll learn about campus resources, build your schedule, meet your academic department, and gain confidence as you prepare for your first year.

Is attendance required?

Yes. Pacer Priorities Day is a required program for all incoming first-year students. The information, connections, and resources shared during the event are essential to your success at Marywood.

What if I cannot attend my assigned date?

If you are unable to attend your assigned session, please contact the Office of Orientation Programs as soon as possible. We will work with you to determine the best available alternative.

Can parents, family members, and supporters attend?

Absolutely! We encourage parents, family members, and supporters to attend. Throughout the day, supporters will participate in sessions designed specifically to help them understand campus resources, student support services, financial processes, and ways to support their students' transition to college.

How many guests may I bring?

Students are welcome to bring up to two supporters. If you need to bring additional guests, please contact the Office of Orientation Programs in advance.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable clothing and shoes. You'll spend time walking around campus and participating in a variety of sessions throughout the day. Summer weather in Scranton can be warm, so we recommend dressing appropriately and bringing a reusable water bottle.

Will food be provided?

Yes! Lunch is provided for all registered students and guests. You'll have the opportunity to enjoy a meal while connecting with other incoming students, families, faculty, and staff.

What time does the day end?

Pacer Priorities Day concludes at approximately 3:30 p.m. Students and supporters will reunite at the end of the day to reconnect, share what they've learned, and prepare for their next steps before the semester begins.

Will I receive my class schedule at PPD?

Students will have opportunities to discuss academic planning, registration, and course schedules with their academic departments. Specific scheduling processes may vary by major.

What is the difference between PPD and New Student Extended Orientation (NSEO)?

Pacer Priorities Day takes place during the summer and focuses on academic preparation, registration, campus resources, and connecting with faculty and staff.

New Student Extended Orientation (NSEO) takes place in August before classes begin and focuses on building community, meeting classmates, learning campus traditions, and preparing for life as a Marywood student. Both programs play an important role in helping you have a successful start at Marywood.

What if I have accessibility or accommodation needs?
