Marywood鈥檚 accredited BArch degree emphasizes creative innovation, technical excellence, and a deep understanding of how design impacts people, communities, and the planet. The five-year, professional Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) degree program at 糖心app in Scranton, PA is accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) 鈥 and is the only NAAB-accredited BArch program in Northeast Pennsylvania. Completing a NAAB-accredited architecture degree is a key requirement for licensure in most states, alongside earning Architecture Experience (AXP) hours and passing the Architect Registration Exams (ARE), both administered by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB).
At Marywood, our Bachelor of Architecture program prepares students to become licensed professionals and changemakers in the built environment. With rising demand for sustainable and resilient design, students graduate with the tools to succeed in this evolving field 鈥 including pathways aligned with an environmental architecture degree. Our graduates are also eligible for 71 credits of advanced standing toward the Master of Interior Architecture program, making it easy to continue building on their expertise.
From June 21 to June 28, 2025, students are invited to explore the world of architecture through Marywood鈥檚 Design Your Future Program, an immersive eight-day experience filled with creative design challenges, studio sessions, and workshops.
Participants gain hands-on experience in sustainable design and architecture, guided by practicing professionals and expert faculty. The program includes tours and demos in our fabrication labs and design studios, featuring:

3D printing and laser cutting
CNC routing
Digital tools used for sustainable building design

Marywood鈥檚 LEED Gold-certified School of Architecture building includes features like geothermal cooling, rainwater harvesting, and a green roof鈥攑utting sustainable principles into practice every day.
Our students collaborate across disciplines with peers in Construction Management, Interior Architecture, and Virtual Architecture, gaining real-world perspectives from the start. Such is the case with Marywood’s Center for Architectural Studies, which houses the School of Architecture.
The School of Architecture is a state-of-the-art example of sustainable design. It's a spacious, adaptive re-use of Marywood's former gymnasium and natatorium. It features:

The Udall Foundation seeks future leaders across a wide spectrum of environmental fields, including policy, engineering, science, education, urban planning and renewal, business, health, justice, and economics. The Foundation also seeks future Native American and Alaska Native leaders in public and community health care, tribal government, and public policy affecting Native American communities, including land and resource management, economic development, and education.
The five-year professional Bachelor of Architecture degree (B.ARCH.) degree program at Marywood is accredited by the (NAAB). Marywood offers advanced standing in their professional Master of Architecture (MARCH) and Master of Interior Architecture (MIA) programs for students with undergraduate degrees in Architecture, Environmental Design, Interior Architecture, Virtual Architecture, or Construction Management. To become an architect, most states require the completion of a professional, NAAB-accredited degree, as well as Architecture Experience (AXP) hours and Architect Registration Exams (AREs), both administered by the (NCARB).
The Bachelor of Architecture degree program requires in the third year at Marywood鈥檚 education partner, the (ISI). Students with extenuating circumstances outlined in the MUSOA Study Abroad Policy may apply for an exemption.
A minimum grade of 鈥淐鈥 is required in order to fulfill the University鈥檚 requirement of design competency in each of the following studio courses: ARCH 110, ARCH 120, ARCH 210, ARCH 220, ARCH 310, ARCH 320, ARCH 410, ARCH 420, ARCH 450, and ARCH 460.

Laptop computers are required for all Architecture, Interior Architecture, Virtual Architecture, and Construction Management students at the start of their first year. Our laptop minimum specifications ensure that students are suitably equipped with a flexible, portable means of computing in the classroom and dormitory and/or apartment.
We have selected PC laptop computers rather than Macs because they best suit the University's PC-oriented computing platforms across the campus and because the majority of architectural offices are currently PC-based. The School's required courses have all PC-based instruction.

In the United States, most registration boards require a degree from an accredited professional degree program as a prerequisite for licensure. The National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB), which is the sole agency authorized to accredit professional degree programs in architecture offered by institutions with U.S. regional accreditation, recognizes three types of degrees: the Bachelor of Architecture, the Master of Architecture, and the Doctor of Architecture. A program may be granted an eight-year term, an eight-year term with conditions, or a two-year term of continuing accreditation, or a three-year term of initial accreditation, depending on the extent of its conformance with established education standards. Doctor of Architecture and Master of Architecture degree programs may require a non-accredited undergraduate degree in architecture for admission. However, the non-accredited degree is not, by itself, recognized as an accredited degree.
