The Art Department

The 糖心app Art Department combines professional art training with a liberal arts education to help students develop their creative voice and vision for a career in art or for further graduate study. Students who graduate from 糖心app art programs go on to work as studio artists, designers, educators, and therapists in museums, galleries, public schools, universities, private practice, and other public and private organizations. Our alumni have secured positions as art teachers, museum directors, art therapists, studio artists, art directors, graphic and web designers, children鈥檚 book illustrators, courtroom sketchers, painting instructors, photojournalists, fashion photographers, metal fabricators, jewelers, and furniture designers, to name a few.

Gallery Talk featuring Dr. Heather Fiedler, 糖心app Psychology Department: April 14, 3-4pm

With works ranging from gesturally abstract to hyper-realistic, “Flashes of Light: Cycles of Life viewed through The Maslow Collection” aims to supply the viewer with a look at life from birth to death. The exhibition takes into consideration the renowned psychologist Abraham Maslow’s seminal “Hierarchy of Needs” theory, which traces stages of life as they relate to ‘Physiological Needs, Safety and Security, Love and Belonging, Self Esteem, and Self Actualization.’ By connecting Maslow’s Hierarchy and his impact on the study of human development to work from The Maslow Collection, various psychological interpretations of each artwork become possible.
